Guns Worthy of Cyberpunk 2077: Real World Weapons

I’ve been pondering what are the most cyberpunk guns on the market currently?

This article originally ran on December 10th, 2020.

It’s December 10th! You know what that means! Time for me to start stacking bodies with cyberpunk weapons! More accurately, it’s time for me to wait 12 hours for CyberPunk 2077 to install onto my PS4. I’ve been looking forward to this game since 2013, and delay after delay has been slapping me in the face. Now the day is upon us, and I have to download a massive Day 1 patch and install 70 gigs worth of game.

I wanted to find guns that you could actually own without a SOT or Type 07 FFL (and without personally knowing a neuromancer). You might be able to 3D print a gun these days, or finish an 80 lower, but these are guns you can buy. Guns chumps like you and I could order but still had their cyberpunk appeal. I also wanted to find one for every major category of civilian firearm. So that’s a handgun, shotgun, pistol caliber carbine, and a semi-auto rifle, and maybe a wildcard.

A Chiappa Rhino, displayed by @outbreak_magazine. This thing screams cyberpunk gun.

Cyberpunk Guns

Chiappa Rhino – Cyberpunk Six-Gun

Look at this bad mofo! Cyberpunk 2077 videos (and many Cyberpunk 2077 wallpapers) have prominently shown a revolver as part of the character’s arsenal, so I went with the Chiappa Rhino over the FK BRNO. The Rhino is a unique wheelgun. The barrel aligns with the bottom chamber of the cylinder. Most revolver designs align the barrel with the top chamber of the cylinder.

This makes the Rhino looks slick as hell but also cuts muzzle flip significantly. The Rhino is a kitten even when loaded with full power 357 Magnums. Another big difference is the hammer. The hammer you see is not necessarily the hammer. It stays put when the gun is fired and only acts as a means to cock and decock the single-action design. The Rhino also incorporates Picatinny rails to mount red dots and flashlights.

Tavor TS12 – Lots of Lead

I love shotguns, and the Tavor TS 12 is one of the most futuristic designs I’ve ever seen. First and foremost, it’s a bullpup, semi-auto shotgun, and that places it in the near future category already. What makes it stand out is that it’s still a tube-fed design, but there are three tubes. Each tube holds five rounds, so you have 15 rounds of 12 gauge at your disposal.

When one tube runs dry rotate to the next and start firing. The gun looks like the Starship Troopers rifle and most certainly lends itself to the corporate shock trooper vibe. The TS 12 is a potent and powerful weapon begging for a place in Cyberpunk 2077.

The Mateba Model 6 Unica autorevolver could easily rank among the coolest of cyber weapons…but it could be a steampunk gun too.

Kriss Vector – Short and Sweet

Filling out the subgun/PCC portion of this listicle is the Kriss Vector. Look at this sexy thing! The Kriss Vector doesn’t just look like it stepped out of the future; it performs as such. The Vector uses a weird delayed blowback system and an inline design that greatly reduces muzzle rise and recoil. The Kriss Vector comes in various calibers, including the crowd favorite 9mm, but also big oomph bois like the 45 ACP and 10mm.

For the civilian line up, you can choose either rifle variants with 16-inch barrels, pistol variants with braces, or SBR variants if you want to pay the tax stamp. The braced pistol variants with the folding braces are absolutely sweet shooters and inhabit the best qualities of the Vector SMG. This ultra-modern design allows for plenty of customization through lots of Picatinny rails and a healthy optic rail.

The Rifle – XCR-L Micro

When it comes to the CyberPunk 2077 rifle, you can’t just settle on some nice AR 15 with high tech crap strapped to it. The XCR is a clear choice. It’s a long-stroke gas piston gun similar to the AK system of rifles. The XCR comes in various calibers, and caliber conversions are quick and easy. You can take a 5.56 caliber XCR-L and convert it to 300 Blackout, 7.62×39, 6.8 SPC, 6.5 Grendel, or 224 Valkyrie in mere seconds.

The gun comes in various sizes, but the Micro is by far the sexiest. Short barreled rifles and rifle caliber braced pistols are the way to go. The Micro’s design incorporates a folding brace or stock, and with a short enough barrel, you have a rifle, you can squeeze into a messenger bag. This is perfect for fighting off cyborgs, future orcs, and those damned corporate hired ninjas.

Other Cyberpunk Weapons

The Wildcard – LifeCard

The LifeCard is a folding single shot 22 LR handgun that is about the same size as a credit card, albeit it is much thicker. A single shot 22 LR isn’t worth much, except the fact that it’s superbly easy to disguise and conceal. Getting Stop and Frisked by some corporate mercenary?

Something like this could be easily glossed over during a search down. Imagine if the LifeCard made that cool transforming sound the Transformers did in the Michael Bay flicks. It doesn’t, but that would be sweet as hell.

Cyberpunk and Beyond

The future is now, and it only took eight years to get here. I hope you guys are going to enjoy Cyberpunk as much as I will… in 12 hours after it installs onto my PS4. Until then, let us know your favorite cyberpunk style guns in the comments below.
