New Family-Friendly RTS Game, Toy Tactics, Now Available on Steam Early Access

In partnership with publisher Joystick Ventures, Kraken Empire, the Spain-based development studio, has launched its latest offering, Toy Tactics, on PCs via Steam Early Access. This family-friendly, physics-based Real-Time Strategy (RTS) game invites players to embrace their inner artist and commander while engaging in the history of warfare on a sandbox battlefield.

In Toy Tactics, players can strategically sketch unit formations of various shapes, such as stars, circles, or hearts, in order to outmaneuver their opponents. The game features three distinct armies: Imperium, Pendragon, and Kyoukai, each equipped with unique powers based on their real-world counterparts. Players will relive the joy of childhood as they command their toy troops and topple rival armies in a playful yet tactical environment.

Guided by the wisdom of military general Sun Tzu, author of The Art of War, players will embark on a quest to restore balance in the realm of Erebus, a timeless afterlife for warriors. Players can expect to face eight challenging toy types and discover ancient Artifacts that grant special passive abilities. In addition, they will have access to summoning spells, which can be used to heal units or deploy Jenga-like cinder block walls.

The lightheartedness of Toy Tactics is evident in its slapstick combat, where plastic pieces of defeated enemies bounce across the sandbox, evoking memories of playground days. According to Ivan Carrillo, Managing Partner for Joystick Ventures, Toy Tactics is a game designed for both die-hard RTS fans and families new to the genre.

Toy Tactics is currently available on PCs via Steam Early Access and supports English and Spanish languages. Players can visit its official website to learn more about the game or join the community on Twitter, TikTok, and Discord.

Kraken Empire has over a decade of experience in game creation, with previous projects like the free-roaming shooter Kromaia and the educational application Hi-Score Science. Joystick Ventures, based in Sherman Oaks, California, is an investing and publishing company that aims to promote indie developers and push the boundaries of game design across genres, styles, and locations. Their 2022 release, Lost in Play, has sold over 100,000 copies.
